Thomas J. Auel, age 59, of Sunman, Indiana passed away Tuesday, April 29, 2014 at his residence. Born January 10, 1955 in Cincinnati, Ohio, he was the son of Louis and Laura Chaille Auel. Thomas married Jean Stein on August 28, 1976 and she survives. He worked as a line mechanic at JM Smuckers-St Bernard, formerly Proctor and Gamble. Thomas was a member of the Sunman American Legion-Sons of Legion and Trinity Christian Center in Lawrenceburg. An avid fisherman, he also enjoyed wood working, cooking and was known as the "candyman." Those surviving who will honor Thomas' memory include his wife of over 39 years, Jean Marie Auel of Sunman; children, Tom Auel, Jr. of Sunman, Christopher (Angie) Auel of Covington, KY, and Samantha Auel of Sunman; grandchildren, Wyatt and Brooklyn Auel; father, Louis (Linda) Auel of Sunman; brother, Randy (Kim) Auel of Milford; father-in-law, Bill (Mary Lou) Stein of Cincinnati; sisters-in-law, Kim (Andy) Murphy of Liberty Township, OH, and Pam Whalen of Cincinnati; several nieces and nephews, and many, many friends. Thomas was preceded in death by his mother. Visitation is Saturday, May 3, 2014 at Trinity Christian Center, 18687 Pribble Road, Lawrenceburg from 10 a.m. till time of service at 2 p.m. Pastor Cory Potts will officiate the services beginning at 2 p.m. Burial will follow in St. Paul Cemetery, Sunman.
