Viola A. Hountz, age 86, of Sunman, Indiana, passed away Friday, September 5, 2014 at Ripley Crossing in Milan. Born March 18, 1928 in Sunman, she was the daughter of John and Loretta Fritsch Riehle. Viola married Joseph L. Hountz on June 14, 1952 at St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Sunman and he preceded her in death on July 16, 2014. She worked at Seagrams and then was a homemaker. Viola was one of sixteen children. She enjoyed bingo, quilting, crocheting, puzzles and most of all being with her grandchildren. Those surviving who will honor Viola's memory include children, Joyce (Albert, Jr.) Kraus of Batesville, James (Karen) Hountz of Guilford, Joseph (Annette) Hountz of Sunman, Paul (Marilyn) Hountz of Sunman, Betty (George) Hoff of North Carolina, Leroy (Kimberly) Hountz of Sunman, Mary Lou (Dan) Doll of Sunman, and Dorita Hodges of Lawrenceburg; 24 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren; siblings, Corletta Weber of Guilford, Nicholas Riehle of Batesville, Romilda Hoeing of Greensburg, and Sylvester Riehle of Sunman. Besides her parents and husband she was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters. Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, September 8, 2014 at Cook Rosenberger Funeral Home, 107 Vine Street, Sunman. The Mass of Christian burial, officiated by Father Sean Danda, will begin at 10 a.m. on Tuesday at St. Peters Catholic Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Family requests memorial donations to the Alzheimer's Association, the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society.
