William B. Disney, 85, of Sunman, Indiana, passed away Tuesday, October 2, 2012 at his home. He was born October 15, 1926 in Anco, Kentucky the son of Robert and Minta (Dobson) Disney. After completion of High School, William enlisted in the Marine Corp on February 19, 1944 in Knott County, Kentucky. On April 18, 1951 he married Mary Jo Wells in Lawrenceburg. After serving in World War II, Korea, and the Philippines he was honorably discharged in 1954. He was employed at Fernauld in Ross, Ohio for 14 years and later as a machinist with Hill-Rom in Batesville, Indiana for 20 years. William was a lifelong member of the Kenneth Diver American Legion Post #337 in Sunman, Indiana. He was an avid gunman and belonged to the NMLRA and NRA. He was also a founding member of the "Old Guy's Golf Club." He enjoyed woodworking in his shop at home and could often be found cheering on the Kentucky Wildcats. Mary Jo Disney, William's wife of 61 years, survives. Also surviving are daughters Jennie (Jerry) Maune of St. Leon, Joan (Greg) Butler of Cincinnati, Rhonda (Hugh) Hoskins of Farmer's Retreat, Marcia (Len) Eckstein of Sunman, Denise (Mike) Disney of Milan, Robin (Mick) Braunagel of Milan and Dawn (Robert) Disney of Milan; brother, Paul Disney of Sunman; 25 grandchildren, 44 great-grandchildren, and one great-great granddaughter. Besides his parents, William was preceded in death by daughter, Deborah Wilhelm; son John (Sandy) Disney; daughter Jackie Disney; and two brothers Don and Damon Disney. Visitation for friends and family will be Saturday October 6, 2012 from 9 am till 1 pm, with the funeral service at 1 pm at Cook Funeral Home, 107 Vine Street, Sunman, Indiana. Burial will follow in Pilgrim Home Cemetery, Milan, Indiana with military rites performed by the Kenneth Diver American Legion Post #337.
